A clear plan for handover day.

Collection & payment

Agree the details with your chosen dealer, check payment and complete the paperwork.

Before handing over the keys

Check payment in your own bank account.

The purchasing dealer pays you directly. Verify receipt through your own banking service; a screenshot or message from a buyer is not confirmation.

01

Agree the arrangements

Confirm the dealer’s identity, collection address, date, contact person, transport costs and payment method. Callback requests on OfferMyMotor are not confirmed collection appointments.

02

Review the inspection

Have the vehicle details, keys and records available. If the buyer identifies a difference and proposes a new price, ask for the reason and decide whether to proceed.

03

Confirm the payment and handover

Check the agreed amount has arrived before releasing the car or keys. Keep the sale receipt and written terms. Remove personal belongings, saved addresses and linked accounts from the vehicle.

04

Complete the vehicle paperwork

Use the official DVLA guidance for notifying a sale to a motor trader. Keep confirmation and check any arrangements for a personalised registration before the sale.
